On a crisp October day at Shea Stadium, Nolan Ryan was called in from the bullpen for relief during Game 3. Wearing number 30 on the back of the Mets' home pinstripe jersey, Ryan threw the final 2 1/3 innings, striking out three batters and allowing no runs. He was credited with the save as the Mets defeated the Baltimore Orioles 5-0. At just 22 years old, Ryan would go on to become a World Champion as the Mets closed out the series in five games.
The bold shoe charm resembles the classic pennant flags that were a huge part of the mid-century sports memorabilia culture.
